9782718605500 is a critical fiction of animal industrialization.

 

I elaborated this criticism by accentuating certain characteristic features of the poultry system and by borrowing the symbol used by Robert Venturi, when he criticized architectural modernity. I borrowed his novelty-architecture (In french: architecture "canard": "duck"-architecture ) and made it a chicken-architecture.

The volatile architectures depicted in this thesis are presented as artifacts frozen by a photographic shot. In them, several stories can be read, superimposed in layers. This thesis presents nourishing architectures in pain, unable to express themselves in any other way than through images or symbols. They are trapped because of their very condition: inert architecture.

Finally, rather than fighting, they struggle. This emphasizes their condition of inert yet volatile architecture. Prisoner, rather than free.

Even if at the end, there is hope that this volatile architecture, by which I mean the chicken, can finally fly away, there is an underlying fatality that the chicken, the animal itself, cannot fly.
