Cécile Rosental was born in 1987 in Neufchâteau, France. She lives and works in Haifa, Israel.

Her photographic and writing practices inform her visual art. Together, they form an ecosystem in which she depicts the longing for elsewhere and the need to escape - desires that, at some point, touch us all.

She uses the monotype technique with acrylic on paper. Her soft, pastel colors reflect this idealized otherworld. Yet, in her landscapes featuring women on the run, a certain sense of menace shines through. It reminds us that discomfort is part of the journey, and that it may even be necessary for our growth and emancipation. Flight becomes a quest for freedom.
