The women I paint have chosen to disappear in order to become more fully themselves. Created from cast shadows, these portraits show women re-emerging in the shadow of their former selves - distorted, transformed, liberated.

The title Les Nébuleuses evokes their elusive, shifting nature, suspended between presence and disappearance. The ghostly textures of monotype reinforce this sense of transformation, blurring the boundaries between body and shadow, identity and its dissolution.
